A Toki traditionally a carving tool and used as a weapon. As a taonga the toki represents strength, determination and courage.A Koru literally meaning "curl" these taonga depict an unfurling ponga fern frond, In māori culture the young shoots of the fern aymbolise new life, growth, and peace.
